It’s a seven-game slate Monday night, and while it's not the biggest night on the calendar, there are some sneaky spots for fantasy production and daily fantasy value. We've got a couple of matchups that could turn into track meets, and a few others where one or two guys might just go off. Let's dig into where the value truly lies.
First, let's talk about the Atlanta Hawks and their trip to Milwaukee. This game smells like points. The Bucks are giving up 117.2 points per game, ranking them 22nd in the league defensively. Dejounte Murray has been on a tear, averaging 25.8 points and 9.4 assists over his last five games, including a 40-point outing against Boston on March 28. He’s been handling more of the offensive load with Trae Young still sidelined, and that volume isn’t going to slow down against a Bucks team that often prioritizes offense over defense. Giannis Antetokounmpo will get his, obviously, but Murray is set up for a big night. Don't be surprised if he flirts with another triple-double here.
Then you look at the other side of that game. Damian Lillard has been a bit inconsistent lately, but he dropped 39 points and 8 assists against the Hawks back on March 30. Atlanta's defense ranks 27th in the NBA, allowing 120.3 points per game. This is a prime bounce-back spot for Dame if he’s going to get right before the playoffs. He’s only shot over 40% from the field in two of his last five contests, which is concerning, but the matchup is too juicy to ignore. Brook Lopez also averages 1.4 blocks per game this season, and could be a sneaky play if you're chasing defensive stats.
Here's the thing: everyone will flock to the big names in that Hawks-Bucks game. But let's pivot to the Utah Jazz hosting the Cleveland Cavaliers. This game has a lower projected total, but there’s some hidden value. Collin Sexton, facing his old team, has been playing with a chip on his shoulder. Over his last seven games, he’s averaging 20.3 points and 4.7 assists on 50% shooting from the field. Darius Garland has been inconsistent for the Cavs, opening up more usage for Sexton. The Cavaliers are a top-10 defensive team, but they can be exploited by guards who attack the paint. Sexton does exactly that.
My hot take for the night? Luka Doncic, despite facing the Houston Rockets, won't be the top fantasy scorer on the slate. Houston has been playing surprisingly good defense lately, holding opponents to 109.8 points over their last 10 games. While Luka always gets his numbers, I think a more efficient, high-volume performance from someone like Murray or even Shai Gilgeous-Alexander against the Knicks could overshadow him. SGA dropped 37 points and 8 assists against New York on March 31. The Knicks are tough, but they've been missing OG Anunoby, which opens up some cracks.
Another guy flying under the radar is Jalen Green for the Rockets. He's been absolutely cooking, averaging 28.4 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 3.8 assists over his last five games. He's hitting 48.7% of his threes in that span. Dallas's defense has improved, but they can still be susceptible to hot shooters. Green is cheap in DFS and has monster upside right now.
The Pacers and Nets game in Brooklyn also has potential for some fireworks. Indy plays at the third-fastest pace in the league. Tyrese Haliburton should feast on the Nets' defense, which ranks 20th in defensive rating. Haliburton had 24 points and 8 assists against the Nets earlier this season. On the flip side, Cam Thomas is always a threat to get buckets, and he’ll need to if the Nets want to keep pace.
Tonight's value is about finding those high-usage guys in fast-paced games or those with a revenge narrative. Don't overthink it, but don't just chase the obvious names either.
My bold prediction: Collin Sexton drops a season-high 35 points against the Cavaliers tonight.
