Monday in the NBA slate is always tricky. You’ve got a bunch of teams coming off weekend back-to-backs, some guys nursing bumps and bruises, and a few others just plain coasting. But there’s still value out there if you know where to look. We’ve got a six-game schedule tonight, and I’m eyeing a few spots where you can either snag a fantasy gem or put together a winning daily lineup.

Let's start with the big man situation in New Orleans. Jonas Valanciunas is out, and that immediately thrusts Larry Nance Jr. into a starting role. Nance isn’t exactly a per-minute monster, but he showed last season he can put up numbers when given extended run. Remember back on March 27th against the Clippers? He played 31 minutes, grabbed 12 boards, and chipped in 9 points. That kind of production is absolutely in play tonight against a Blazers team that gives up a ton of rebounds and allows opposing centers to feast. Nance is a strong play across the board. Don't overthink it; he's got a clear path to 25-plus minutes and double-digit boards.

Then there's the ongoing saga in Toronto. Scottie Barnes has been a do-it-all machine for the Raptors, averaging 20.3 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 5.9 assists through his first 10 games. Thing is, the usage is through the roof, and the efficiency isn't always there. Tonight, they're up against a Celtics squad that’s one of the stingiest defenses in the league. Boston ranks second in defensive rating, allowing just 104.2 points per 100 possessions. I think Barnes is due for a slight regression game here. He'll still get his counting stats, but don't expect him to carry your lineup the way he has been. It’s a fade for me in daily formats, especially with his elevated salary.

The Guards to Target (and Avoid)

Look, Tyrese Maxey has been absolutely electric for Philadelphia. After James Harden's departure, Maxey's usage rate has exploded, climbing to nearly 30%. He dropped 50 points on the Pacers last Sunday and followed it up with 33 against the Pistons. He's averaging 27.6 points and 7.2 assists since the Harden trade. Tonight, he faces a Pacers team that plays at the fastest pace in the league and ranks dead last in defensive efficiency. This is a smash spot for Maxey. His price tag is high, but the upside is even higher. You almost have to roster him.

On the flip side, I'm fading Cade Cunningham in Detroit. He's been putting up decent numbers, but the Pistons are just a mess, and his efficiency has been rough. He’s shooting just 39.8% from the field and 29.5% from three this season. They're playing the 76ers, who, even without Joel Embiid, have a stout perimeter defense. Patrick Beverley and De'Anthony Melton are going to make life difficult for Cunningham. He might get you 20 points, but it'll be on terrible shooting splits and a bunch of turnovers. There are better options out there.

Here's my hot take for the night: Jordan Poole finally breaks out of his slump tonight and puts up 30-plus points against the Knicks. New York's backcourt defense has been solid, but Poole has shown flashes, like his 27-point effort against the Hornets on November 10th. He's due for a big one, and the Wizards are going to need every bit of it.

For your daily lineups, pair Maxey with Nance Jr. for a high-floor, high-ceiling combo. Then, sprinkle in a value play like Toumani Camara from Portland if he gets the start; he played 34 minutes in their last game. Maxey is going to hit 40 real-life points tonight.
