Steph Still Carries the Load, But For How Long?

Look, Stephen Curry dropped 37 points, eight boards, and eight dimes against the Nets, shooting 12-for-23 from the field. That's a classic Steph stat line, the kind that wins you weeks in fantasy. But the Warriors still lost by a point, 120-119, in a game where Curry had to be absolutely spectacular just to keep them in it. It tells you everything you need to know about the current state of Golden State: it's Steph or bust, and that's a dangerous proposition for fantasy managers.

Here's the thing: how many more nights can Curry realistically carry this kind of offensive burden? He's 35. Yes, he's a cyborg, but the miles add up. For fantasy owners, his usage rate is through the roof, which is great for now. But you have to be thinking about the potential for rest days or minor injuries down the line if this trend continues. Andrew Wiggins chipped in 20 points, but his consistency is still a major headache. Klay Thompson, meanwhile, gave you a disappointing 10 points on 4-for-12 shooting. Not exactly inspiring confidence for those holding onto him.

Nets' Young Guns Offer Intriguing Value

On the other side, the Nets got a massive game from Cam Thomas – 28 points on 10-for-22 shooting, five assists, and four rebounds. He’s been a fantasy enigma, but when he’s on, he can fill it up. The problem is, his role can fluctuate wildly, making him a difficult start outside of deeper leagues. However, this performance against the Warriors, especially after Mikal Bridges sat out with a shin contusion, is a strong reminder of his upside.

Bridges missing time changes the entire fantasy dynamic for Brooklyn. He averages 21.7 points and 3.7 assists, making him a solid top-50 asset. If Bridges is out for any extended period – and the team has been vague on the severity of his shin issue – Thomas’s value skyrockets. Claxton had a monster double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds, plus three blocks. He's a consistent source of boards and blocks, always a valuable commodity in fantasy. Nic Claxton should be owned in pretty much every league, regardless of Bridges' status.

My bold prediction: Cam Thomas will average 20+ points per game for the remainder of the season, cementing himself as a must-roster player, even when Bridges returns.
